Mā te tūtaki ka mōhio, mā te mōhio ka mārama (Exposure to different cultures will leave us enlightened).
Traveling to Cambodia was a truly transformative experience. Standing before the awe-inspiring temples of Angkor Wat, I felt a deep connection to a history far beyond my own, yet somehow familiar in its sense of resilience and strength. The warmth and generosity of the Khmer people reminded me of the values we hold dear in my own culture. It was a powerful reminder of how important it is to learn from and honor other cultures while deepening my pride in my own. This journey was not just about discovering a new place; it was about discovering more of who I am.

Cambodia was unbelievable!
Meeting the people at REACH and forming genuine connections with them was truly a highlight. I’m so thankful for the chance to learn about a new culture and language, and for many eye-opening experiences. I will never forget seeing grand temples, bustling markets and trying things I never imagined I would, especially tarantula. This trip has taught me so much, all of which I will carry with me in my future. What made it all the more memorable was sharing these moments with such a fantastic group of people, supported by an exceptional team. This trip has been unforgettable. I’m truly grateful for it.

Travelling to Singapore and Cambodia was a big turning point in my life. Having never been overseas I was nervous and unsure of what to expect from another country – but it was the most incredible experience. From the food and culture - to the kind welcoming people, my eyes were opened to what the world has to offer. I am eternally grateful to have had this opportunity, that has impacted how I see the world and how I want to live my life. I have now caught the ‘travel bug’ and want to travel more!

Words cannot fully describe how impactful this trip was for me. Seeing the contrast between Singapore, Cambodia and New Zealand, and how different people live and operate, was both eye opening and educational. I have come back home realizing how lucky and privileged I am to have the opportunities that I do. I now know how incredibly important it is to experience other cultures and educate myself on the world. I am so so grateful to be able to share these amazing experiences with the people around me. This trip has left such a positive mark on me and I know these experiences will be the building blocks of how I shape my future.
